— Our Origin Story —

The Birth of GIT University

Founded in 2023, the Global Higher Integrative Transformative Studies (GIT University) emerged from a shared passion among four visionary co-founders who recognized critical gaps in the practice and training of clinical psychology and mental health services in Cameroon and across Africa.

The founders observed that many African institutions were producing graduates rich in theoretical knowledge but often lacking the practical, contextual, and culturally responsive skills needed to address the complex realities facing individuals, families, and communities. Amid rising social crises — trauma, displacement, violence, substance abuse, family breakdown, and emotional distress — the need for competent, practice-oriented professionals became increasingly urgent.

At its core, GHITS University believes that Africa's challenges require African-informed solutions — delivered by highly trained professionals who understand both global standards and local realities. The institution exists to nurture a new generation of clinicians, counselors, therapists, and transformational leaders equipped not only with knowledge, but with competence, compassion, and the capacity to create lasting impact.
